Sports Desk. England’s cricket team has to take the field from July. The team has to play six test matches with West Indies and Pakistan. The players have been given safety measures from the board.
Potential players selected in the team will have to stay away from family for 9 weeks. Every day, they have to check body temperature and swab.
Captain Joe Root and the team players were informed about this. Up to 30 players can be selected before the first Test starting on 8 July.
Matches can be done without fans
The England Cricket Board will have to wait for security measures to be given by the government. The board will use two grounds, the Aegis Bowl and Old Trafford. There is a hotel on one side of it. Matches can be done without fans to reduce the risk. All players are to gather on 23 June. They will have to live together until August.
Players will train in a small group after Test
After the Test, the players will train in small groups. The teams will be given practice facilities on different grounds. England will have to rotate the players as they have to play 6 Tests in 7 weeks. If the level of infection is low, it can be allowed to go home before the Pak series.
Australian players can train from the end of May
Cricket Australia (CA) has been preparing for training since the end of the month. Dr. John Archard, Chief Medical Officer, and Alex Contours, Head of Sport Science and Sports Medicine, are formulating the strategy.
Contours said that the situation caused by the virus will not have much impact on the training of sports like cricket. There is a distance between players on the nets. There are 2-3 bowlers on each net. Once a bowler throws the ball, the batsman is 22 yards away so this is not a big problem.
