Additional aid, of 100 million euros, will be released by the government for professional sports clubs. Roxana Maracineanu, the Minister for Sports, announced it on Wednesday, during a trip to Roland-Garros with her supervisory minister Jean-Michel Blanquer. This envelope will have to be voted on by the deputies in the amending finance bill.
“We are once again alongside amateur clubs, but also professional clubs,” said Roxana Maracineanu. Before explaining that this amount would concern both women’s and men’s professional clubs, all disciplines combined.
“It will be an additional help for the clubs,” resumed the former swimmer. We know very well that TV rights are an essential source of income even if, with professional sport, we are starting a reflection on the economic model of all these clubs and the model of French sport in general “.
107 million released last year
In the fall of 2020, after the establishment of limit gauges, then behind closed doors in sports arenas, aid of 107 million euros had already been distributed and broken down between different disciplines (48 million for football, 40 for rugby, 4 for hand, basketball and volleyball and 15 million for the organizers of major events).
In addition, Emmanuel Macron presented in May the “Sport Pass” promised in November, an aid of 50 euros per child to participate in the registration fees in a club. It will be available at the start of the school year for all children eligible for the back-to-school allowance, i.e. 5.2 million children, as well as to those receiving the education allowance for disabled children. In total, nearly 5.4 million children and three million families will be able to benefit from it.
