Tensions continue between India and China over the border in eastern Ladakh. Amid the ongoing escalation in the two countries, Chinese President Xi Jinping ordered the armed forces to strengthen training in actual combat conditions and increase their ability to win the war. The ruling Communist Party plans to make the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of equal capacity with the US Army by 2027.
Xi Jinping said that the military should focus on training to win the war. Recently he had emphasized that if the PLA wants to transform itself into a modern fighting force to be on par with other leading powers, it should adopt state-of-the-art techniques like artificial intelligence.
The 67-year-old Xi, who heads the ruling Communist Party of China (CPC) and has long held the post of president, is also the chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), the country’s highest command of a force of 2 million troops. Let me tell you that tension has been going on between India and China since May and about eight rounds of talks have been held to reduce it.
At the CMC meeting, Xi reported, in the meeting of the Xinhua news agency, Xi stressed on strengthening the army for the new phase as well as applying the party’s thinking on military strategy. Xi’s statements come at a time when there has been a deadlock on the Indo-China border in eastern Ladakh for more than six months.
