About 200 Castres supporters were present this Saturday near the stadium to encourage their team before the derby (2:45 p.m.) against Stade Toulousain, current leader of Top 14. Some have planned to watch the match by positioning themselves on the gates and walls .
It is a new explosive derby which is announced this Saturday between Toulouse, current leader of Top 14, and Castres. At least on the ground, since the meeting will be held behind closed doors at the Pierre-Fabre Stadium because of the health context. However, the Castres supporters welcomed their players with dignity before this championship meeting.
Smoke, firecrackers, drums and songs … there were around 200 Castres supporters to give voice to the area around the stadium before kick-off (2:45 p.m.). Some will stay to watch the match via the stadium gates or on low walls. Many families were present for this meeting.
Castres can still qualify for the finals
The match is important in more ways than one for Castres, currently eighth in the Top 14, still in the race for a place in the top six and thus qualify for the finals of the season. Toulouse will move on the lawn of its neighbor without several of its management players, like Antoine Dupont or Julien Marchand, put to rest. Thanks to a success in Clermont last Sunday, Stade Toulousain qualified for the 13th European Cup semi-final in its history in the Champions Cup, where Dupont and his partners will challenge Bordeaux-Bègles.
During the first derby of the season at the Stade Ernest-Wallon on November 7, the two teams parted back to back (16-16). Defeated by Montpellier during its last outing in the league (16-29), Stade Toulousain will necessarily want to confirm its status as Top 14 leader against its rival.
