The entrepreneur Pascal Rigo, originally from the Bordeaux region, unveiled his plan to take over the Girondins de Bordeaux in the columns of the South West.
With the departure from King Street, the Girondins de Bordeaux are looking for a new owner. It could be Pascal Rigo, local entrepreneur now based in the United States, accompanied by a group of investors, about fifteen in total. “For us, the Girondins is sacred,” he told Sud Ouest on Thursday.
“We did not initially intend to position ourselves, it turns out that they (the Girondins) are in difficulty, adds Rigo. They are part of the things to be safeguarded. There is the emotional side because we have grown up in the stands at Lescure. We’re all sad to see what’s going on right now. ” The contours of the plan are still blurry despite everything. “We don’t know how much it takes,” Rigo says.
A project including if Bordeaux files in Ligue 2
The entrepreneur must therefore be patient for the moment, wait to have access to the files to “imagine a financial recovery plan”. American investors, including a billionaire owner of sports franchises in the United States, have planned to be part of the project. The less debt there is, the easier the recovery will be. “If we can spend 80 million to buy players rather than to bail out a debt, that’s good too,” said the potential buyer.
Note that the project is not conditional on keeping the Girondins de Bordeaux in Ligue 1. “If the club is relegated to Ligue 2? The project does not change, assures Rigo. The means a little bit, I think some investors will not be interested, but the ticket will be more reasonable. The plan we are putting in place is working everywhere. ” The supporters of the Girondins will live a difficult end of the season whatever happens, but can see some reasons for hope for the future.
