Victim of a former Ligue 1 recruiter convicted of rape breaks silence

Document RMC Sport – In early March, the Paris Essay Court sentenced Ahmed G., a former Ligue 1 recruiter and coach in the Paris region, to 18 years in prison for rape and sexual assault. Nine young footballers accused him of acts committed between 2003 and 2018. For the first time ever, another alleged victim of this former recruiter speaks on RMC Sport. This 25 year old young man never did justice to this story.

“I wanted to forget that night.” Guillaume*’s words are strong. At the age of 25, the former footballer speaks for the first time about a scene that changed his life. In early March, after reading articles on the matter related to Ahmed G, Guillaume decided to break the silence and give RMC Sport his first words. “I wanted to leave this story behind me, describes the former INF Clairefontaine. When I stopped football, I cut everything off. Suddenly, I told myself that this was my life before. Now that I have myself as a man, so I can do this interview. When I read the article, I was shocked, it brought back memories and feelings.”

Subsequent cases were never brought to the attention of French justice. When Ahmed was first convicted in early March, Guillaume was not one of the victims. The former Bussy-Saint-Georges player remembers all the details of the night that changed his life. At the age of 11, Guillaume moved to Auxerre for an internship at the then Ligue 1 club. To accompany him in this quest, Ahmed G., recruited for several professional clubs in the Paris region (Angers SCO, FC Nantes or even AJ Auxerre).

During the first match against Ahmed G’s amateur club, Guillaume presents himself at the end of the meeting in front of his parents by giving an official paper from the professional club to the recruiter of FC Nantes. “We knew that Ahmed was someone who knew people in the football world, admits Guillaume. The first approach was very factual. I had a great match, he came to visit me. Nothing strange at the time. And It started as if… He asked me to come to his club Bussy-Saint-Georges, which could be a good springboard for signing for a Ligue 1 club.

Guillaume describes Ahmed G’s influence on many of the amateur club’s players. The same technology that was reported during the trial in March. During the investigation, the police traced the life of the accused and discovered several messages addressed to other young boys. The same procedure is used for all its victims. The man sees his “victim”, presents himself as a recruiter from a large training center (which was true in some cases) and quickly establishes a relationship of trust with the young players.

“During the two weeks in Auxerre, he was very close to me, Guillaume explains. He hugged and kissed me. It was a bit like my father, he could buy me what I needed like sweets and cramps ” At 11 years old, the young football enthusiast doesn’t immediately understand the technician’s grip. The latter tries to mentally condition the boy: “An important element in the car, he liked to remind me that my parents didn’t have a lot of money. Two weeks of training is going great for Guillaume. On the last day he got into Ahmedji’s car to return to the Paris area. Except that the journey will not go on as normal. Around 8 p.m., halfway down the route, the car stops at a hotel after the former technician believes it’s too late to return to Paris. Ahmed Mr. Guillaume to stay in the car, while he visits the reception to find out if two rooms are available. “He asked me to stay outside the hotel. When he came back, he told me there was only an empty room with a double bed. At that point, I didn’t suspect anything and I accepted”, says Guillaume Huh.

“It starts when I go to bed,” describes the 25-year-old young man. He climbed up on me, he was rubbing against me. I was on my back and during the scene, he’s saying the sentence Was like ‘don’t worry, you’re too strong, you’ll sign in auxirée and I’ll take you to Nantes. Your parents will have a big bonus’. Meanwhile, he kisses me, the act will last 30 seconds . “

At the age of 11, Guillaume finds the strength to fight back against his assailant: “I turned around and then he put his hand on my limbs. This made me react and so I shouted: ‘Ahmed wait’.” In the ensuing minutes, Guillaume takes refuge in the bathroom of the hotel room. He describes the minutes as a “black hole” before returning to bed. The rest of the night will proceed “as usual”. The next morning, the two men “left as if nothing had happened”. At the time, Guillaume admitted to “feeling ashamed”. After a two-week internship, “I wanted to erase this evening from my mind” to continue in my ambitions and my dreams, he says. Thereafter, Guillaume, without informing his parents, remained at his football club under the orders of Ahmed G. Regardless, with his father’s permanent presence, the coach no longer tried anything on the young boy.

“I testify to the release of this word”

It is not easy for Guillaume to speak thirteen years after the fact. his goal ? Breaking the silence to inspire other victims to tell their stories. During the trial, lawyers for the victims recalled that many other young footballers could have been targeted by Ahmed. “Witnessing today is a personal decision. I’m testifying to release this word, Guillaume says. Speaking is taboo in the world. Of sport. These words can be swirled in young people’s minds. It means nothing.” It could also be that you are not strong enough and that is why you have suffered things. In fact, it is the fact of being able to speak that is strong.”

In court, and after several years of investigation, nine young footballers recounted their stories. Guillaume never took his story to court. By the age of thirteen, the young boy made himself. “Being able to talk about it now liberated me. I stopped feeling guilty. It also excuses my trouble at some training centers later. Maybe I mistrusted the coaches… It played out clearly.”

In thirteen years, Guillaume never had the strength to testify before his parents. The young man spoke for the first time two weeks ago in front of his mother and father. “They were sad and angry. Sadly, they were able to trust this person and were angry, not at me, but just to find out.” Guillaume admitted that his father had doubts five years ago when the story surfaced in the press. In response to his questions, the former footballer simply answered “no”.

In this case, which does not relate to Guillaume*, the Advocate General requested 15 years of imprisonment. So the jurors of the Paris Essence Court made an even more important decision by giving the former recruiter 18 years in prison. Since then, Ahmedji has appealed, so there will be a new trial. The former recruiter was accused of “rape and sexual assault” on minors under the age of 15 and attempted, “sexual offers by electronic means” and “corruption of minors”.
