Alexandre Lacazette is currently in “discussions with several clubs” at the end of his contract with Arsenal next June. The French striker, a guest at Canale Football Club this Sunday, admitted that his training club OL has inquired about his return.

“I’ve never cut off contact with Lyon since I left, I try to return to the club once or twice a year to see the medical staff again because we’re really close. So yeah, now that ol’ knows that I am free, so they come for information”, admitted Alexandre Lacazette.

“Without Europe, it’s a bit more complicated”

Nevertheless, the man who scored 275 games and 129 goals in the OL jersey placed a bet for a return. “I want to play Europe, it’s been a long time since I’ve played in the Champions League, so I miss it. Nothing in life is impossible, but it’s a little more complicated,” Lacazette replied on the potential hurdle. OL’s absence is from the European competition the next season could represent.

Left to develop with Arsenal in the summer of 2017, Alexandre Lacazette will have to find a new base, soon turning 31. In recent weeks, the returns of Samuel Umtiti and Corentin Tolisso from the same generation as Lacazette have also been contemplated. “It would be nice but it’s not me who decides,” the striker smiled. It’s true that it’s a bit sad and a shame because we all went a little bit at the same time, it could be the club’s fault. Me Know that quality is coming with Lucaba, Caquerette, Cherki who are doing the job or the excitement. That’s great but we’ll look to the future.”

For his part, after a big win against Bordeaux this Sunday (6-1), Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed Peter Bos on the bench next season, regardless of the final result in the standings. After 32 days, OL are eighth in the standings with 49 points, four behind Strasbourg, currently in fifth place. Les Goons know what remains to be done if they want a real chance to bring back Alexander Lacazette.
