Negotiations between Antonio Rudiger and Chelsea for a contract extension have not been successful and so the defender will leave the Blues at the end of the season. Thomas Tuchel confirmed this Sunday and expressed his regret at the loss of one of his executive players.
Sad but not angry. Thomas Tuchel formalized what made sense to us in recent weeks: Antonio Rudiger will be leaving Chelsea at the end of the season. A German technician confirmed it to Sky Sports’ microphone this Sunday, after the Blues snatched a win against West Ham (1-0) on Day 34 of the Premier League.
“It’s His Decision”
“I think we have done everything (to keep him) in recent months, both personally and to the club. Now we are in a position in which we cannot fight anymore and Antonio has said that he Will leave the club. This summer, let the former PSG coach go. It’s his decision, it’s not good for us, but I don’t take it personally. He was fantastic, in his attitude and on the pitch. This one He is a key player and he will be like that till the end of the season but we are definitely very disappointed.”
The defender is out of contract and has no shortage of suitors. His name has circulated everywhere – according to his agent’s meetings with club leaders – notably at Barca or Juve. In recent weeks, Antonio Rudiger has been quoted at Manchester United.
