Champions League: Clement Turpin referee of the final at the Stade de France?

According to Radio Marca, UEFA will appoint Clement Turpin as referee for the Champions League final, which will be played at the Stade de France on 28 May. The Frenchman notably led Chelsea-Real Madrid this season in the quarter-finals.

A tricolor referee at the Stade de France, the symbol will be strong. Spanish media Radio Marca revealed on Wednesday that UEFA should appoint Clement Turpin as referee for the Champions League final, which was held on May 28 at the Dionysian enclosure.

The Frenchman has been on the whistle of several C1 meetings this season: Chelsea-Real Madrid in the first leg of the quarter-finals, Bayern-Salzburg in the round of 16 comeback or even Villarreal-Atlanta, Barcelona-Dynamo Kyiv, AC Milan-Porto and Porto-Atlético during the group stage. Most recently, he also officiated during the 2022 World Cup play-offs during Italy’s elimination against North Macedonia (0-1).

A reunion with Villarreal or Real Madrid?

So Clement Turpin could find two formations he has already refereed to this season at C1: Villarreal and Real Madrid. At the moment, the two Spanish clubs are in an unfavorable tie after their respective defeats on the lawns of Anfield (2-0) and Etihad Stadium (4-3).
