Bought in 2020 by Gérard López, who tried to rapidly escalate ties with Lille prior to the sale of LOSC, Royal Axel Mousecron is going through a serious sporting and financial crisis.

Players of the Belgian club went on strike in the month of February, due to unpaid salaries for some time by Bordeaux’s current president (Ligue 1) or Boavista (Portuguese D1). The club has been banned from recruiting. Gerard Lopez may wish to part ways with Axel in the coming weeks.
