In a message posted on Instagram, Dani Alves said he had no problem reaching his historic trophy record alongside his former FC Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi.
The most successful player in football history, Dani Alves sees no problem with his friend Lionel Messi approaching his prize list. The Brazilian giant has won 43 trophies, mainly at FC Barcelona, but also at PSG, Juventus or Sevilla FC.
“If you have to get ahead, let it be done by someone better than you”
However, Lionel Messi is closing in on that record after PSG’s recent Ligue 1 title. The Argentina international now has 39 trophies, four less than Alves’ 43, and the defender posted a graphic on social media in response to his low lead.
He wrote on Instagram: “Life always says: If you have to get ahead sometimes, let it be by someone better than you. This post is not for the ego, it’s just for you to believe in you too. Define your destiny and fight. Every day until you reach the goal!”
PSG’s Ligue 1 title is Messi’s 11th career championship, the other ten having been won with FC Barcelona. He has also won the Champions League four times, the last time in 2015.
“He Might Be Back For One Last Dance With Me For A Year”
Both men have won multiple titles at both Barca, and Dani Alves wants Pulga to continue filling his trophy cabinet at the Catalan side. In an interview for Mundo Deportivo, the current FC Barcelona side had expressed a desire to play with Messi again.
“I don’t know what he thinks or wants to do, assures Dani Alves. I insist, he can come back for one last dance with me for a year. Why not? Kind of like this.” There’s no other place. We can’t get better than here, it’s made for us, the city, the club. He’s gone, he’s tried something different and it’s time to come home if he wants I wish.”
