Bordeaux: it’s official, the Girondins club is bought by Gérard Lopez

Gérard Lopez officially became the new owner of the Girondins de Bordeaux this Friday. The Spanish-Luxembourgish businessman has provided financial guarantees to save the club from relegation and will now have to rebuild.

“The club is saved”: it is with these words that Gérard Lopez announced the result of Bordeaux’s passage in front of the DNCG on July 12. The leader then succeeded in convincing the financial policeman of French football to keep Bordeaux in Ligue 1. This Friday, it was the commercial court which validated the acquisition of the Girondins by Lopez. After an eventful end of the season and the announcement of the withdrawal from King Street, the Bordeaux club has its new owner.

With an agreement with King Street and its main creditor Fortress, the Spanish-Luxembourg businessman will launch his new sports project in Gironde. After avoiding relegation to Ligue 2 and successfully passing the exam before the DNCG, Gérard Lopez can savor the conclusion of this file. He will speak from 5.30 p.m.

Bordeaux joins the Lopez galaxy

Former president of LOSC from January 2017 to December 2020, Gérard Lopez has a great experience in football.
