- BJP will contest all 117 seats in the year 2022
- The party has started preparations on a war footing in the state elections
After the alliance broke with the Akali Dal in Punjab, the BJP has announced to contest all the assembly seats in the state. On Monday, BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh said that BJP will contest all 117 seats in the 2022 assembly elections in Punjab. He said that the party has started preparations for this on a war footing. The organizational structure is being strengthened at 23,000 polling stations of the state by uniting BJP workers at the grassroots level.
Chugh said that the BJP president will inaugurate the party’s 10 district offices digitally on November 19, as well as a three-day visit to Punjab to take stock of the election preparations and energize the party workers for the upcoming assembly elections. He said that the party leaders led by state president Ashwani Sharma will popularize the 160 public welfare schemes of the Narendra Modi government in Punjab and make people aware of the work done on them in the state.
Akali Dal left NDA
The BJP general secretary said that preparations have started on a war footing to contest all the 117 assembly seats in Punjab. About two months ago, the Shiromani Akali Dal left the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) over the Centre’s agricultural laws. According to the formula for seat sharing between the two parties, BJP fielded candidates on three of the 13 parliamentary seats and 23 out of 117 assembly constituencies. Shiromani used to be Akali Dal candidate.
