Jodhpur. When Sourav Ganguly took over as BCCI president, he made it clear that his focus would be on improving the income of domestic players. Now that much has been affected due to coronavirus, the future of domestic players hangs in the balance.
Players want to know whether they are in contract or not. On this, Cricket Operations General Manager Saba Karim has said that the BCCI officials can announce on the financial plan of domestic players soon.
The 2020-21 domestic season is scheduled to begin with the Duleep Trophy in August, but suspense remains intact due to an outbreak of coronaviruses. Karim has said that the board will adopt a policy of watching and waiting. The board is waiting for the lockdown to end on May 3 and will then work as per the government’s advice.

Saba Karim said, “Till now, we had no backup plan. We will be relaxed in our approach so that we can get as many matches in the season, but it will all depend on the guidelines and advice issued by the government after the lockdown is over.”
2019-20 season ends with Ranji Trophy. The Irani Cup, which took place four days after the Ranji Trophy, could not happen due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
