The New Zealand international center, Isaia Toeava (35 years old, 36 caps), will sign up for a season (plus an optional second) in Bayonne.
Isaia Toeava will discover a new club and another championship in a few weeks. The experienced New Zealand international center (35), who played in Toulon for the last two seasons after wearing the colors of Clermont, will join Bayonne this summer. The All Black with 36 selections, at the end of the contract, will commit for a season (plus an optional second) with the Basque club relegated after the barrage of accession lost in the derby against Biarritz.
Bayonne aims for a comeback
Toeava will therefore play in Pro D2 next season with a team that intends to climb back into the top flight without wasting time. Since last summer, he has played 19 games, including 17 as a starter with the RCT, which failed to qualify for the finals of the Top 14 after losing to Castres on the final day of the regular season.
In the staff, Yannick Bru will still be in charge next season, as confirmed by its president Philippe Tayeb last week. Jeff Dubois, with whom he collaborated in the XV of France from 2015 to 1017 as assistants to Guy Novès, will come to support him thus pushing Rémy Ladauge towards the exit.
