The Spanish press denies Bild, who claimed that Jérôme Boateng was on the shelves of Barça for this summer transfer window. According to Mundo Deportivo, Barca are not interested in the German defender, whose contract with Bayern Munich expires in June.
The Catalan press extinguishes the rumor. Mundo Deportivo affirms Friday evening that sources close to FC Barcelona categorically deny any interest in recruiting Jérôme Boateng this summer. This denial comes a few hours after the publication of information from Bild, claiming that the Bayern Munich defender was in the sights of Tottenham and the Spanish club.
It seems that Barca have other plans for their central defense. Gerard Piqué, Clément Lenglet, Samuel Umtiti, Ronald Araujo and Óscar Mingueza will undoubtedly be joined this summer by Eric Garcia, at the end of his contract at Manchester City. The case is not yet concluded, but it has been in the pipeline for many weeks already.
His end of contract creates tensions
Appreciated at Bayern Munich by Hansi Flick, Jérôme Boateng is at the end of his contract and will be leaving this summer. Despite the desire of his trainer to extend it, the Bavarian sports management is absolutely not on the same wavelength. His case also crystallizes the tensions within the German club, where he thinks that the coach could well pack his bags at the end of the season.
At 32, the man with 76 caps with the Mannschaft has played 31 games this season, including 22 in the championship. He notably came into play, following the injury of Niklas Süle, in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League lost 3-2 against PSG.
