Australia won the Adelaide Test by 8 wickets on the third day, the series lead

Australia defeated India by 8 wickets on the third day in the first Test match played in Adelaide. With this victory, the team led by Tim Paine took a 1-0 lead in the 4-match series.

In this day-night test match played with pink ball, India scored 244 runs in their first innings after which the hosts’ first innings was reduced to 191 runs. After this, India’s second innings ended on just 36 runs and Australia got an easy target of 90 runs to win. The hosts won the match by losing 2 wickets, scoring 93 runs in 11 overs.

In the first innings for India, where Captain Virat Kohli played a brilliant innings of 74 runs, but in the second innings he returned to the pavilion after scoring 4 runs. In the first innings for Australia, Mitchell Starc took 4 wickets while Pat Cummins took 3 wickets. At the same time, Josh Hazlewood showed amazing in the second innings and took 5 wickets for just 8 runs. Pat Cummins took 4 wickets for 21 runs in the second innings.

The crumbling condition of Indian batting in the second innings can be gauged from the fact that none of his batsmen reached the double figures. Opener Mayank Agarwal was also the top scorer by scoring 9 runs.

This was Virat Kohli’s last match on this tour. Now he will return home on Paternity Leave. The second Test match of the series between the two teams will be played in Melbourne from 26 December. Now Ajinkya Rahane will take charge of Team India in the rest of the series.

Earlier, India had to face a 1-2 defeat in the ODI series, but they came back in the T20 series and won 2–1.
