Antwerp will make its debut on the European scene during the Europa League play-offs on 19 August. The Great Old Omonia will challenge the winner of a duel between Nicosia’s Cyprus and Flora Tallinn’s Estonians, to validate their ticket to the group stage. It was the result of a draw on Monday at UEFA Headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. Antwerp, third in D1A last season, enjoyed ‘Priority 1’ status and could play against a formation from Pot 4 or Pot 3, i.e. an opponent theoretically within their reach. Fate fell on the winner of the duel between Nicosia and Tallinn, from pot 3. The two clubs, the champions in their respective countries in the previous season, were defeated in the second preliminary round of the Champions League.
The return will be on August 26.
