According to information from Gazzetta dello Sport, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will miss the next three weeks of competition, marking the end of his season with AC Milan. His presence with Sweden at the Euro is hoped for.
This is another stop for Zlatan Ibrahimovic. This time, it is undoubtedly the end point of the season in club of the Swedish striker of AC Milan. Touched on Sunday during his team’s victory against Juventus (3-0) on Matchday 35 of Serie A, the 39-year-old will not play again for several weeks.
Injured in the left knee, Zlatan Ibrahimovic collapsed alone on the lawn this Sunday. His trainer Stefano Pioli had wanted to be reassuring by indicating that he was suffering from a slight distortion. According to information from Gazzetta dello Sport, Ibrahimovic will be out for at least three weeks, which would see him miss the Rossoneri’s last three Serie A games against Torino, Cagliari and Atalanta. Nothing has been officially confirmed, for the moment, by AC Milan or the Swedish Federation.
Back for the Euro?
Because time is running out before the Euro which begins on June 11. Zlatan Ibrahimovic must be with the Swedish selection, returned to him last March with the national team, at 39 years and after nearly five years of absence. Coach Janne Andersson, whose relations with the former PSG player have long been unfriendly, will have to make a decision on whether to take Ibrahimovic or not.
Sweden’s first match is scheduled for June 14 against Spain. The selection will be announced next Tuesday by Janne Andersson. If he will not necessarily be ready for this first match, Ibrahimovic could nevertheless be for the next two matches and integrated into the group. His place does not appear to be in danger.
Unless there is a miracle therefore, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will not reappear this season with AC Milan. Despite many games missed in recent months due to several injuries, the Swedish veteran has played in 27 games in all competitions, for 17 goals. Sufficient to justify a contract extension, until June 2022.
