New Delhi, Nov 11 (PTI) Four members of a gang have been arrested for looting and looting people disguised as policemen. The police gave this information on Wednesday. He said Robbie (40), Rahul Kumar (29), Alik Abraham (37) and Rahul (27) who were arrested are members of the ‘envelope’ gang and used to target passers-by at the bus stand or roadside. The accused used to tell the victims that the police is on the way and they should fill all their cash and valuables in an envelope. Police said that in order to convince the victims, one of the accused used to put his money and other valuables in another envelope. The accused also used to ask the ATM card pins from the victims and change the envelopes in the meantime. He would later leave the victims at the destination and later withdraw money from their ATMs. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said, “On the basis of confidential information, a trap was laid on Ring Road on Monday and four people in the car were stopped near a bus stand in Defense Colony. On interrogation and examination of the goods, it was found that he was a member of the ‘envelope gang’. Thakur said that six stolen mobile phones, jewelry, 14 envelopes, a walkie-talkie and a police uniform were recovered from the accused. He said that the car the accused was traveling in was stolen from Hazrat Nizamuddin area. According to the police, the accused is a notorious criminal who was also involved in fraud, robbery, looting incidents before this. The official said that more than 50 cases have been registered against the accused named Bobby.
