A report by the World Health Organization (WHO) team, which went to investigate the origin of Kovid-19 (Corona virus) in Wuhan city of China, claimed that there were signs of widespread spread of the corona virus in December 2019 itself. Peter Ben Ambreck, who led a team of WHO investigators in Wuhan, said 13 different genetic sequences of the SARS-COV-2 virus were found in the city of Hubei province, with thousands more blood samples sought for analysis. Which shows that the transition was already taking place in China.
Wuhan is widely considered to be the “ground zero” of the outbreak, although its exact origins and timeframe continue to be debated, with some reports suggesting the disease was present in Europe as early as October. In an interview with CNN published on Monday, Ambrek told the network “Our new discovery has revealed that the virus was widespread in Wuhan city in December.” Also Read: Wuhan Coronavirus: Is Chinese Snake Caused By This Deadly Virus?
Mr Ambrek said that Chinese officials had told his team 174 cases of coronovirus near the Wuhan area in December 2019, of which around 100 were confirmed in lab tests. In the remaining cases, patients were identified in clinical investigations. He said that it was suggested that there could be more than 1,000 cases of the disease in Wuhan by December. He said that we have not done any modeling since then. “But we know, in large ballpark figures, about 15 percent of the infected population are serious, mild and huge.
Ambrek said that in 2019, other patient data from across China were examined, these data can provide important clues in the origin of 13 variants. He said “Some variants are from markets, some of them are not related to markets. This is something that we have found as part of our mission. Former Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Professor John Watson said that the most likely source of the virus outbreak is China. There are reports that the virus was roaming in other parts of the world. It was moving especially in northern Italy in September and early October.
“Now Zuck investigation has shown that the most likely source of Kovid’s spread is China,” he told BBC One’s The Andrew Marr Show. A study released by the National Cancer Institute (INT) in Milan in November showed that the new coronovirus was roaming Italy in September 2019.
